Come to think of it, what is a poet? One who makes art of words, is that how you show it? Nearly anyone can make a good rhyme Look at me, I’ve done it in no time That dismissed, there must be something more Sheer emotion, drawn from one’s core? That certainly is one way to find it But far from the only way to define it Sonnets, villanelles, pentameter, if poems were circles, they’d have a large diameter So many styles, almost paralysis of choice Trying to find one’s individual voice All that concluded, in the end, A poem is what you choose, my friend.
